Book it!

So, my best friend Devon and I were walking home from high school, we were listening to our ipods and casually talking about random things, as we always do. We ended up walking down Hawthorne Blvd. minding our own business when all of a sudden, two heavy set latino men were following us. We of course had no idea, as we were too occupied with our music and loud conversations. Before I knew what happened - The two men were surrounding Devon as we walked. The two men were socializing with Devon, so I assumed they knew one another. As soon as I removed my iPod to ask Devon what street we were going to take, the two men pushed us and demanded that we give them everything we had in our pockets. So as we refused, they started to punch and kick my friend Devon who was closest to them. I immediately jumped in to defend my friend. But one of the latino men grabbed my friend and put a gun to his back and tried forcing us to give him our things. At that moment the other latino pulled a gun on me! They were going to shoot us for an iPod and some spare change! For what felt like an eternity passed by, when I began to realize that this was all real. My best friend and I were really on the verge of dying at the hands of illiterate gangsters. I thought to myself, this cant be the end, can it?
As soon as I made that thought, devon elbowed the latino and screamed "Book it!". I tried to run with my friend but I still had a gun pointed at me. I was never the kind of guy to run away from something, so I thought to myself, "Do I stay and fight these guys? Or do I run and hope I dont get shot?". I didnt have much time left as the latino who fell was getting back up. So I did, the unthinkable. I ran towards the man with the gun and punched him, disarming him luckily, and I ran off in the direction Devon was going. We ran so fast but they were right behind us. As we were running up Hawthorne we came across this old car dealership lot. Devon ran inside and begged the man to call the police because we were being chased by gang members with guns. The man got up, walked towards us and demanded that we leave before he got his own gun! We literally were moments from being saved if he helped, but he refused and forced us to get out of his lot! Just as we were kicked out, the gangsters were there waiting for us. They still had their guns out, but we didnt give them enough time to aim at us again! We continued running, and I completely forgot that I had a cell phone, so I called the cops on my own and told them the location we were at. And to our surprise a police car was just on the corner. We were so relieved that we stopped running and looked back at the gang members. The police saw them and began the pursuit, but sadly they were able to run into a van that was apparently circling the entire area as all this was happening. The police asked us many questions, and offered to take us home since the police were trying to find those men. We accepted and asked for them to keep us updated on the findings of those men. Unfortunately the police never did find them. The streets are always dangerous, always be cautious of your surroundings, even if you've lived in your town since you were born, you never know what will happen.
